WHY CHOOSE SAINT CHARLES SHAVE?

My name is Sue and I have been making soaps since 1998.

Last year, after selling a few of my ‘hobby’ products on eBay; one gentleman, by the name of Tony, purchased a bath collection and bar soap. He liked it so much he was a return customer, twice. In an email during the sale and shipping, he asked if I also made men’s shaving soap. I replied that I didn’t but thought surely I could.

This innocent little question piqued my interest. Tony answered my many emailed questions and recommended several shave discussion sites to read. In addition to learning about the qualities desired in a shave soap, I discovered you guys are dead serious about your morning shave.

I thought making a shave soap would be a piece of cake, I was dead wrong! You guys are soooo picky! It has to lather, and lather a lot. The bar not only must produce a rich lather, but lather very quickly. It has to be slick, slide, glide, lube, stay lathered, not dry out, rinse off cleanly, smell very fragrant, be an eye appealing color and weigh just so much. Then it must fit in this bowl and that cup. Whew … and we women are picky? I made bar after bar using different recipes. I made soap every day, sometimes twice a day. I was determined I could make a little circle of soap to fulfill the above requirements.

I made every Shave Soap recipe I could find then boxed the soaps and mailed them to my new found friend Tony to trial. After a lot of email correspondence, further recipe tweaking and mailing more sample bars to Tony; I now have what I think is a quality bar of shave soap. It lathers quickly, lubricates your skin, doesn’t dry out, rinses cleanly, has a rich fragrance and allows your razor to glide smoothly and effortlessly for a clean shave. It won’t make your favorite brush scream in agony and it doesn’t look like a gray hockey puck either - don’t even ask me why I mention that.

As an accompaniment to my Shave Soap, I wanted to offer a quality After Shave that would not only cool and soothe, but soften and moisturize your face. This too, I sent to Tony for testing and he pronounced it a winner. The aftershave is appropriately named "Tony’s Choice".

I am confident that I offer excellent products at a reasonable cost. If you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please email me.

I look forward to serving your shaving needs. -- Sue
